Kenyan singer-cum-businesswoman Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has revealed that she was thrown out of Switzerland by an ex-lover while 9 months pregnant.
The ‘Rollam’ singer, taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, narrated how the man rejected her, telling her to “go back to Africa.”
According to Akothee, the man’s exact words to her were: “I have no time, energy or family to take care of you, I am not ready for a family now, you have too many children, and a man cannot fall in love at 50.”
The outspoken singer recalled some of the pieces of advice she was given by people in the country including to throw away her passport to avoid deportation or to report the man to the government.
She however chose not to follow any of these advice because she remembered that “I have my 3 helpless girls back in Mtwapa…they need me more than I need the Swiss papers”, and that “I am too proud to seek for sympathy.”
Akothee further stated that despite going through all these challenges, there were women who still envied her thinking she was living a lavish life; with some of them even going ahead to even sleep with the ex-lover who had abandoned her.
“I never told anyone my journey or pain, even my own children dint know anything, not even my family, they only saw a strong hard working taxi driver, who now opened a restaurant/ bar,” she added.
“Somewhere, somehow what worked for me might not work for you, you only have one option left BE STRONG, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger! And that’s how I lost my thirst of living in Europe!”
