Wrangling wives delay man’s burial in Eldoret

The funeral plans of Fredrick Amwayi, an Eldoret-based man, have been put on hold after High Court Judge Charles Obulutsa ordered that Amwayi’s body remains preserved at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital until a wrangle between the deceased’s two wives on Amwayi’s burial venue is resolved.

Amwayi’s first wife wants the deceased buried at his Chekalini Village home in Lugari, Kakamega County, while his second wife wants him buried at Shimanyiro Village in Kakamega County.

Amwayi’s first wife moved to court to stop the deceased’s burial plans, which had been organised by Amwayi’s second wife. The first wife wants the court to order that Amwayi be buried at Chekalini Village.

The case will be heard later March.

Amwayi died in February, 2018.
