A 39-year-old woman from Kakolo village in Kabondo Kasipul sub-county was on Thursday, August 31 caught stealing a goat and two sheep by area residents.

Rose Gowi was caught bundling the livestock into a waiting Toyota Probox after stealing them from Ramba Market.

The animals’ owner was identified as Michael Sika.

Gowi was beaten up by angry residents, who were planning to lynch her. Police intervened before the attack could result in a fatality.

Confirming the incident, Kodhoch sub-location assistant chief, Charles Dete, said the woman was a perennial thief, who, last month, was accused of stealing her neighbours’ money and livestock including goats and chicken.

Gowi was, last month, nabbed selling stolen livestock at Miruka Market, chief Dete said.

Gowi was detained at Othoro Police Station as investigations into the alleged theft of livestock continue.
