Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has directed the police to investigate and take action against Jomvu Member of Parliament Badi Twalib and Nyali parliamentary seat aspirant Said Abdallah popularly known as Saido, for allegedly disrupting peace during ODM nominations in Mombasa County.
Addressing a press conference in Mombasa County on Tuesday, April 25, Marwa claimed that Mr Twalib hired goons armed with machetes to threaten voters opposed to his bid for ODM ticket during ODM primaries held on Saturday, April 22.
Marwa also accused ODM Nyali parliamentary aspirant Said Abdallah, who beat journalist Mohammed Ali to the Nyali ODM ticket, of misusing firearms during the ODM primaries.
Marwa has ordered the police to investigate the matter and have the two politicians arrested and arraigned.
Marwa further accused a section of police of taking orders from local politicians in Mombasa County, claiming that the order to arrest Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi over ODM nomination chaos in his constituency, did not come from area police boss.
Marwa emphasised that the role of police is to ensure that the ongoing party nominations are fairly conducted in the Coast region, adding that any officer who would be found guilty of supporting a candidate for political seat will be probed for undermining government’s effort in providing equitable service to Kenyans.
