Kalekye Mumo has quit Kiss FM.
The cheerful media personality who started off as Rush Hour show co-host alongside Shaffie Weru at Kiss 100 ten years ago has exclusively revealed to eDaily her next venture.
Kalekye and Shaffie were in September 2014 moved to the Big Breakfast show that airs on weekdays from 6am to 10am.
The breakfast show was formerly hosted by Caroline Mutoko who is now Radio Africa’s Chief marketing officer.
“It has been a fantastic 10-year journey on radio,” Kalekye told eDaily.
“Talking to different people, being part of their lives and even more the experience selling brands on air has taught me so much.”
Kalekye Mumo has for a long time been looking for a new challenge after she reached the peak of her radio job. She ventured into different projects such as music and Public Relations.
Kalekye’s PR firm just signed a multi million contract with Kericho Gold, one of the biggest makers of tea in Kenya. She will headline a range of product launches the company will do.
“And now after beginning the year with big milestones – I turned 40, lost 40kgs and decided to keep it big by opening a Public Relations company, I feel it is time to give more of my talent and experience to brands and clients directly and the first such brand to believe in me is Kericho Gold.”
Radio Africa Group’s Chief Executive Patrick Quarcoo said: “We wish her well in her future endeavors. We are looking at new long-term changes to grow Kiss FM.”
Adelle Onyango is now taking over Kalekye Mumo’s place in the breakfast show alongside Shaffie Weru.
