Celebrated Kenyan band Elani – composed of Brian Chweya, Wambui Ngugi and Maureen Kunga – mezmirised revelers with their melodious performance during their recent East Africa tour in neighboring Tanzania and Uganda.
While briefing Mzazi Willy Tuva during the Mseto East Africa drive show on Citizen Radio August 26, the trio said the reception of their music was different between the countries, adding that they have never seen a crowd moved in that manner by their performance.
“Ugandans were shocked, it was like they did not expect us to sing the way we did,” Wambui shared.
Additionally, the Kookoo hit-makers attributed their success to contribution by music lovers across the region, pointing out that their arrival at Dar es Salaam airport in Tanzania said it all.
“It has been a blessed season, being highly supported,” Brian said, adding: “The love we received in Dares Salam, Tanzania when we landed was second to none.”
Elani opened up about their future plans after releasing their hit-single Sirudi featuring Jaguar, with Maureen saying: “Kenya is home, we will be visiting major cities in the coming months to share the love with our fans.”
