Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu has moved out of her palatial home in Salasala, Dar es Salaam, with reports saying she was facing difficulties in raising monthly rent.
The award-winning film star vacated her house on Monday, November 5 at 8pm, neighbours said.
Wema’s neighbours say, following her exit, they can now breathe a sigh of relief, because the movie star was causing them a lot of discomfort with loud music and noisy friends.
“I was returning home from work on Monday, when I saw Wema’s house-items being loaded onto a truck. Shortly, thereafter, the truck drove off. When I inquired, I was told that Wema had moved out. We really thank God for that,” a neighbour, who sought anonymity, told Tanzania’s Ijumaa Wikienda.
“I know, for sure, that Salasala local administration is also pleased by her decision to move out. I remember we reported Wema Sepetu to them on several occasions, but she would ignore summons and warnings,” said the neighbour.
“Her friends were chaotic. Some times in the night, you’d hear them play loud music, not minding what her neighbours felt or said. Getting sleep [when she was residing here], was hard.”
Unconfirmed reports claim Wema Sepetu has moved into her mother’s house in Sinza-Mori, Dar es Salaam.
The actress’s woes continue to deepen just two weeks after she was indefinitely locked out from acting by Tanzania’s arts board over her explicit pictures and video posted to social media.
She was arraigned before Kisutu Resident Magistrate Mahira Kasonde over the same offence on November 1. The actress pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was freed on a Tsh10 million (Ksh444, 000) cash bail.
Ms Sepetu’s case will be heard on November 20, 2018.
She is being accused of posting to her Instagram page videos and pictures showing her kissing and caressing her boyfriend in bed.
The couple was clotheless in the visual recordings.
