Anita Ebhodaghe has refuted claims that she is reconciling with her ex-husband, renowned Nigerian preacher Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
Ms Ebhodaghe, who was married to the founder of Christ Embassy churches since 1991, has vehemently refuted the rumours doing rounds on blogs, insisting that her marital status had not change.
It has been brought to my attention that there are persistent rumours and misinformation about my marital status being circulated…Further to the formal notification of the dissolution of marriage made by my Solicitors earlier this year, please note that this has not changed,” she stated.
Whispers about the duo’s marital woes started several years ago, and they were confirmed when Anita filed for divorce in 2014. In her petition, Anita, who is also a preacher, accused her husband of infidelity.
The messy divorce was fodder for Nigerian rumour mills, as details of the fallout came to the fore.
Pastor Chris, who was once listed by Forbes as one of the riches pastors in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of USD30- 50 million, said the Bible does not support divorce, but should his wife insist, he would oblige her.
The divorce was final on February 8 this year.
With the divorce, Anita reverted to her maiden name: Ebhodaghe. She also cut ties with the Christ Embassy Churches – a global network of churches that she helped found.
“I am no longer a part of Christ Embassy aka Believer’s Loveworld or any such organisation in any capacity. I am reiterating this to ensure that no one is misled by the false rumors or unfounded statements that show up and are spread from time to time on the Internet. Any additional statement concerning me will be issued by my Solicitors, who are my legal representatives so please do not be deceived,” she stated.
Since their marriage hit the rocks, Anita’s images were removed from the ministry’s website, TV station and their iconic publication: Rhapsody of Realities.
