Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, says he and United States President, Donald Trump, have one thing in common – and that is – they design their own shirts.
Speaking on Citizen Television’s Jeff Koinange Live on Wednesday, March 29, Atwoli said he opts to design his own shirts because “it is cheaper and easier that way”.
The COTU boss further claimed that his designer shirts are sold in nearly all top fashion stores in Europe.
“You can be a designer of your own. For example, I am designing my own shirts. If you go to any leading store of designers in Europe, ask for a shirt known as F.A., you’d be given a shirt. F.A. stands for Francis Atwoli,” he said.
“All my shirts are branded F.A., including the one I have won to studio today (Wednesday, March 29). I am like President Donald Trump, who designs his own shirts. So, I am a designer. I design my chains too. It is easier that way. I won’t need to spend a lot of money at boutiques,” said Atwoli.
eDaily’s independent search online revealed that President Trump dons designer suits, with no mention of the US Head of State designing his own shirts.
Quartz reports that Trump’s suits are quite often Brioni, a brand known for its luxurious and expensive formalwear. Its two-pieces can easily top $6,000 (KSh619, 000).
“You’ll never just see him (Trump) in a t-shirt and jeans, he’s going to be in a suit,” Trump’s longtime butler, Anthony Senecal, said in an interview earlier 2016. “He really only breaks from that uniform on the golf course.”
Atwoli had told host Jeff Koinange that he wears the expensive Brioni suits.
