A video of opposition Chief Raila Odinga dancing to popular hit Zigo by Tanzanian artistes Diamond Platnumz and AY has gone viral and the internet cannot cope.
The video was taken on Saturday, June 18th when Raila was addressing the youth at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kakamega County.
The CORD leader was the chief guest at the event dubbed Kikao – a youth empowerment programme.
In a bid to connect with the young generation, Raila Odinga asked the students to interact with him on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.
“Anybody with a cell phone should wave it in the air. How many of you are on Facebook and Twitter? If you are on those two social media platforms, reach me @RailaOdinga. And those of you who are not here (Masinde Muliro) – those who are watching from wherever you are; those who are at home, kula kwa macho,” he said, and right away the deejay cued in Zigo hit and the CORD leader broke out in a dance.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya joined him on stage and later ODM nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro among other delegates took to the podium to move rhythmically to the music.
The crowd cheered in approval of the CORD leader’s moves – as this time round, he changed his dance style from the typical undemanding moves to ornate steps.
The video has made the rounds on social media, with Tanzanians hugely expressing their approval.
Odinga played down calls for him to retire from active politics, saying he has garnered sufficient experience to govern a country.
“The difference between me and you (youth) is only one – that I have been young, and now I am old. But you have never been old. You are only young. In other words, I know what it means to be young and what it means to be old. That is what is called experience. I know a lot of people want me to continue (with politics and leadership).”
Raila Odinga urged the western bloc not to be swayed by the Jubilee government into entering into a political pact with the leadership. He says that Jubilee’s positive gesture toward western Kenya populace is not genuine.
“I know the other guys are coming here for Harambee and funeral services. They are luring you the way people would lure hens using cereals before they finally slaughter them (hens). Once they’ve earned your trust and votes, they’ll forget about you. Tell them you are not hens,” said Odinga.
Odinga later that evening graced Miss Tourism Kenya that was held at Kidundu Stadium in Vihiga County.
