Varsity student commits suicide near attachment station


A 24-year-old Kisii University student on Monday, September 10 committed suicide a few meters from Keroka Technical Training Institute, where he was attached.

The cause of the student’s suicidal ideation remains unknown.

According to Borangi Location chief, Alice Moige, the Fourth Year Bachelor of Information Technology student, Ronald Misiani Oira, committed suicide by hanging.

His body was found dangling from a rope tied to a tree located near the technical college.

Oira left a suicide note, which was taken by police. Details of the suicide note have not been shared by the law enforcers.

Keroka Technical Training Institute principal, Joseph Kawala, says the student had completed his industrial attachment last semester.

Kawala eulogised Oira as a calm learner, who took his work seriously.

The student’s body was moved to Gucha District Hospital.
