A Third Year student at University of Nairobi died on Monday, November 28, after excessive indulgence in alcohol in Kimugul Village in Londiani Sub-County, Kericho County.
Confirming the incident to eDaily, Kimugul Location chief William Sang said Kennedy Cheruiyot Kirui, 31, had gone on a drinking spree with his friends at bar in Kimugul trading center, and after having one too many – of what was suspected to be illicit brew – the Bachelor of Actuarial Science student blacked out and died.
Chief Sang said the student was on holiday.
Officers attached to Chepseon Police Station took Cheruiyot’s body to Kericho Distict Hospital mortuary.
Chief Sang faulted Kericho County Government liquor licensing board for issuing permits to operators in small centers in villages.
He further urged the county government to seek guidance from provincial administration before issuing licenses to alcohol sellers.
