Top Ugandan singer Mowzey Radio is dead

Top Ugandan musician Moses Ssekibogo, popularly known as Mowzey Radio, has died, a close family source confirmed to Uganda’s New Vision early Thursday (February 1).

One of his managers, Balaam Barugahare, told New Vision at around 8:15am local time that Radio breathed his last at Case Hospital in Kampala.

“Yes, Radio is gone. He died at 6:00am this morning,” he said on phone.

Mowzey Radio was hospitalised last week in Kampala after sustaining injuries during an alleged bar fight.

Uganda’s Monitor reports that Radio was reportedly beaten into coma during the fight at De Bar, a local hang-out spot in Entebbe town.

This comes just hours after President Yoweri Museveni contributed USh30m (Ksh856, 000) towards his treatment.

“The management of Case Hospital acknowledges the payment of UGX 30,000,000 received from H.E The President of the Republic of Uganda @KagutaMuseveni. We are grateful for this generous deed of contributing to hospital bills for the amazingly talented Ugandan vocalist Radio,” read part of the statement from Case Hospital.

Last week, police said they had arrested five people to help with their investigations into the beating of Radio.

Mowzey Radio, who was part of the music group Radio and Weasel, produced popular hits such as ‘Bread and Butter’, ‘Zuena’, ‘Magnetic’ among others.
