Celebrated Tanzanian musician Shetta, whose real name is Nurdin Bilal, has ended his four-year marriage to his wife, popularly known in social media circles as Mama Qaila.
Speaking to Tanzania’s “Showbiz Xtra” recently, the “Kerewa” hit-maker said “irreconcilable differences” rocked his marriage, which resulted in the fading of their love.
The former couple no longer share a house.
“For now, I am alone. My wife and I split up a long time ago. I am, however, happy that I can see my daughter every time I feel like. That makes me happy, and I wouldn’t wish for any other thing,” said Shetta.
The musician’s marriage woes grabbed media headlines in April 2015, when Tanzanian entertainment outlets reported that Mama Qaila abandoned Shetta after he spent a night with actress Rose Ndauka in a Tanzanian hotel.
The artiste, however, refuted claims that he cheated on Mama Qaila, who later forgave and accepted to continue living with him as his wife.
Mama Qaila would one year later – in May, 2016 – be the one to defend herself after rumours surfaced online that she was secretly seeing Diamond Platnumz.
She denied the claims, and Shetta, who fully supported her, would around that time appear on TV and radio stations to urge his fans to respect his marriage.
The former couple are parents to a young girl, whose name is Qaila.
