Hundreds of mourners turned up at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi for the requiem mass of late Inspekta Mwala actor Bon Aggrey Okello, popularly known as Bokello.
Bokello passed away at the Mater Hospital on October 25 after a four-week long illness.
Members of the clergy led by the Vicar, Reverend Mwangi, Reverends Joseph Kamau and Phillip Owuor shared God’s word with the people.
Bokello’s first cousin, Michael Joshua, read the late actor’s eulogy before condolence messages were relayed by family, colleagues and friends.
The management of Royal Media Services described Bokello as a diligent and loyal employee.
“The family of Royal Media Services is deeply grieved by the loss of a dedicated and loving colleague, Bon Aggrey Okello. Bon was a warm, simple and approachable character. He delivered in his responsibilities and was always willing to learn,” read part of their message.
Bokello’s Inspekta Mwala colleague, Morio, described the fallen TV star and comedian as intelligent.
“Bon was a very intelligent person. He used to sit us down and tell us what was pleasing and what wasn’t. He also taught us to listen to advice and it has helped us to survive,” he said.
Gor Mahia’s number one fan, Jaro Soja, also paid his tribute to Bokello, terming him a brother-and-a-half: “We have lost a great fan of Gor Mahia who was very loyal to the club.”
David Mwabili, alias Mwala, showered praises on Bokello saying: “He was the only Luo policeman we had in the program, and he did not struggle to deliver in his role.”
Other public figures who attended the mass service include Charles Bukeko, aka Papa Shirandula, Mama Stella and Sophia of Machchari, Inspekta Mwala crew among others.
The mass ended at 4pm after which mourners had a chance to view the body.
