Addressing the Gor players in London on Monday, Mr Odinga, who is the club’s patron, told the footballers not to fear the English Premier League side, given they too are humans just like K’Ogalo players.
“It is not a matter of life and death. It is not a fight of David against Goliath; it is more of a fight of David versus David or Goliath versus Goliath. We want you to have confidence in yourselves; sometimes, people go in there, and they are overcome by fear. Go there, have confidence and play your game. The Everton players are human beings just like you; wako na mbili na nyinyi pia mko na mbili. Ama wako na tatu? Ni wanaume tu kama nyinyi. Kwa hivyo, ingieni kwa kiwanja na mpige mpira,” said Mr Odinga.
Gor Mahia plays against Everton FC in a friendly match on Tuesday at 10pm East African time. The clash will take place at Everton’s official stadium, Goodison Park.
