‘There is no insult I haven’t received’: Nadia Mukami announces social media break over bullying

“Am writing this with tears in my eyes and they are already swollen coz of crying.”

These were the words fast rising Kenyan songstress Nadia Mukami wrote on Instagram as she announced her break from social media.

Nadia, in the emotional post, cited cyber-bullying as the reason for her hiatus, however saying she will not last forever in the cold and will eventually return.

The ‘Maombi’ hitmaker rubbished perceived societal expectations that public figures should never display their emotions.

According to her, “this has been a month of one heartache after another” and so “I will show my emotions!”

“I know they say I am a public figure, I need not to show emotions; I will show my emotions!!!There isn’t an insult I haven’t received!! All levels of explicit insults,” she wrote.

“I am always the strongest among my friends; they say God doesn’t give you something you can’t handle, I wish he didn’t trust me this much everytime!! Am taking a break, I will be back!!!!”

Instances of Kenyan celebrities being bullied online recently led to the release of the highly popular ‘Hao’ song by HipHop heavy-hitter Khaligraph Jones and Masauti.

The song came on the backdrop of a viral video of Mulamwah announcing that he had quit comedy following online trolls and cyber-bullying.
