Barely two weeks after her celebrity ex-husband tied the knot in a colourful Mombasa wedding, Susumila’s ex-wife Ruth Jimmy has gotten engaged.
Ruth got engaged to her new love, a Mombasa-based businessman known as Faiz Mohamed.
The ceremony, which took place at Pangoni Beach Hotel in Shanzu, was witnessed by a few family members and friends.
Her gold and diamond- ridged engagement ring is reported to have cost Ksh100, 000.
Ruth told Citizen Digital on phone she has converted to Islam, and adopted a new name – Shamsa.
“I am no longer Ruth Jimmy, my name is Shamsa (Islamic name). It is true that I am engaged, and I am very happy with my new status. I will later divulge additional details about my relationship. As we speak, I am not in a conducive environment,” she said before hanging up.
Shamsa is also reported to have resigned from her job at Kwale County where she was working in the Water and Sanitation Department.
Citizen Digital sought Susumila’s comment about his ex-wife’s newest engagement status. Is he happy for her?
“It doesn’t really concern me,” he quipped.
“I don’t want to say I wish her well in her new relationship; I don’t want to play nice even a bit,” he said. “I am now married, and just from my honeymoon which ended last week. I don’t think I’d buy into her drama. I have moved on.”
Does Susumila think Ruth’s engagement and love for the business tycoon is genuine?
Apparently no – he thinks she is out to get famous by riding on his already-established name: “She is just out to seek fame using my name. If we talk of showbiz fame, who is she in the industry?” he posed.
Susumila, born Yusuf Kombo, tied the knot to his long term girlfriend Kibibi Salim in October 24 in a simple Islamic nikkah (wedding).
Susumila, who has two children with Ruth (now Shamsa), says he will still care for his kids.
“Despite everything I still love my two kids and I don’t think if Kibibi will have a problem staying with them,” he said.
