Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has issued a stern warning to land grabbers.
Sonko’s warning comes amid ongoing demolition of multi-billion property constructed on public land and river banks.
Sonko took to Facebook to communicate his resolve to protect public land, saying he better allow his term in office lie precariously than let land grabbers have a field day with stolen land.
Governor Sonko mentioned on his Facebook post some of the public utility land that have been encroached on.
The parcels of land, according to the county chief, include: proposed land for Gigiri and Ruaraka firestations; Highridge Hospital in Parklands; New Muthaiga-Thigiri Ridge County Dispensary & Nursery school, ‘grabbed’ Pumwani Hospital expansion structures; Eastleigh Market; Mwariro market, Langata Primary School land; St. Catherine Primary School land; Buruburu Girls’ High School land; Martin Luther Primary School land; Kamukunji Secondary School land; Langata Secondary School land; ‘grabbed’ land reserved for South C market; land reserved for Nyayo estate police post.
Sonko also put on notice environment officials, who gave licenses to the “rogue” developers.
