An interesting photo has emerged capturing Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at State House, Nairobi as former US President Barack Obama paid President Uhuru Kenyatta a courtesy call.
In the photo, Sonko seems isolated as he looks at President Kenyatta, Obama, DP William Ruto, Obama’s half sister Auma and Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma who are in a photo session.
It is not clear whether Sonko, who appears eager to take a photo with Obama, had the opportunity to be photographed with the renowned leader.Prior to Obama’s visit, Sonko had placed advertisements in the media welcoming the former US president into the country.
Meanwhile, President Kenyatta thanked Obama for keeping his promise of visiting the country after his service as US President when he last visited Kenya in 2015.
He further congratulated Obama for establishing the Obama Foundation which seeks to empower the youth to become agents of change.
After meeting President Kenyatta, Obama held a meeting with opposition leader Raila Odinga at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel.
Obama is in Kenya to inaugurate the Sauti Kuu Foundation’s project which comprises of a Sports Centre and, Resource and Vocational Training Centre run by his half sister Dr. Auma Obama.
After inaugurating the Sauti Kuu Foundation and visiting his Ancestral home in Alego Nyang’oma of Siaya County on Monday, Obama heads to South Africa where he is expected to deliver the 16th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg.
