Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday, July 17 appointed former Harambee Stars forward Dennis Oliech and defensive midfielder Musa Otieno to the Nairobi County Sports Committee.
The committee will oversee sports development in the county.
Governor Sonko made the appointments after assenting to the Nairobi City County Sports Management (Amendment) Bill 2018.
The governor’s move paved way for the formation of the sports committee.
Governor Sonko announced, on his Twitter page, Mr Oliech’s and Mr Otieno’s appointments.
“The formation of the committee will add value to my administration’s plans for the youth in the county even as we strive to complete state-of-the-art FIFA standard stadiums in Dandora, Ziwani, Woodley, Riruta and Kihumbini estates,” said Mr Sonko.
Mr Oliech retired from international duties in 2016. He is Kenya’s first all-time record goal-scorer with 34 goals.
Mr Otieno is also a former soccer player.
