Residents of Bongi Village in Chesamis Location in Bungoma County were on Wednesday treated to a shocking spectacle when a middle-aged man confessed to killing his 82-year-old grandmother in May, 2016.

The body of Gladis Naswa, who was buried in June, 2016, was exhumed for a postmortem to establish the cause of her death.

David Keri, who had gone into hiding for nearly four months since committing the alleged crime in May 23, returned to his native village Wednesday and confessed to Kimilili Police Station officers to killing his grandmother.

According to Mr Keri, his grandmother’s spirits were haunting him to come out, saying since the murder, he has never enjoyed peace.

Reports indicated that the deceased was gang-raped and strangled.

David Keri was arraigned in Kimilili Law Courts Wednesday where the judge ordered for postmortem to be conducted on the late Gladis Naswa’s body.

The suspect has been remanded at Bungoma GK Prison until the postmortem report is presented before the court.
