A First Year student at Karatina University was on Tuesday, August 29 arraigned before a Nakuru court to answer a charge of defiling a minor.
Ian Kinyanjui, 20, was accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Njoro sub-county in Nakuru County.
Kinyanjui also faced another account of the same charge (indecent act with a child) on the same date.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Kinyanjui pleaded not guilty, claiming the girl had lied to him that she was an adult.
“The girl told me she was not a minor. She actually lied about her age so that she could frame me. It is her parents who pursued the case,” said Kinyanjui.
Omido granted Kinyanjui a surety bond of Ksh100, 000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh50, 000.
The case will be mentioned on September 14 and heard on December 4, 2017.
