The mother of slain Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno, has urged the Government to provide her with security as investigations into her daughter’s brutal killing continue.
Melida Auma Otieno says she doesn’t feel safe, even when taking a bath in her home because “somebody is trailing me”.
“I need to be protected. Since the murder of my daughter, Sharon, I do not feel safe; even when taking a bath in my own compound. You never know if I would be the next… I am requesting the State to provide me with protection as investigations into my daughter’s murder take shape,” she said at her home in Magare Village in Homa Bay Town on Sunday, September 9.
Auma Otieno made those remarks, when Woman Representatives from Nyanza region, Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Dr Pamela Odhiambo (Migori), Rosa Buyu (Kisumu) and Janet Ongera (Kisii), visited her at home.
The legislators asked the DCI and other relevant authorities to expedite the process of bringing to book Sharon Otieno’s killers.
They insinuated that the chief suspect in the 26-year-old mother-of-three’s murder, a top Migori politician, is yet to be arrested and questioned.
This comes after the arrest of Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s personal assistant Michael Oyamo in connection with Ms Otieno’s murder. Mr Oyamo was arraigned in a Homa Bay court Monday, September 10.
Sharon Otieno was, last Wednesday, found killed at Kodera forest in Homa Bay County.
A postmortem report revealed she had been stabbed multiple times, including in the abdomen, resulting in the killing of her seven-month-old foetus.
