An Egerton University lecturer pleaded guilty to assault Wednesday before Resident Magistrate Nancy Makau.
The senior lecturer, Alexander Luchetu, was arraigned for inflicting bodily harm on Purity Wanjiru, 23, on February 18, 2017 at Naka Estate in Nakuru County.
Luchetu, who had earlier appeared before Chief Magistrate Gerald Oduor had denied the charges, alleging that the complainant was framing her.
Luchetu, however, on Wednesday, May 31, changed his attestation, pleading guilty to assaulting the vicenarian.
The accused was arrested by the police on March 3 in Nakuru after the complainant filed a report at the Nakuru Police Station.
Before pleading guilty, Luchetu had been given room to settle the matter out of court but he and the complainant failed to strike an agreement.
Resident Magistrate Nancy Makau now says the court will proceed with the case for facts and sentencing after the differing parties failed to settle the matter out of court.
Luchetu was released on a bond of Ksh20, 000.
The case will be heard on June 16.
