Top Kenyan boy band, Sauti Sol, will on Saturday, September 26, 2015 share the same stage with celebrated international acts including Beyonce Knowles at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.
According to a tweet on the award winning quartet’s Twitter handle, Sauti Sol left for New York Friday night.
Apart from Beyonce, other big names in the music industry expected to perform at the festival are Ed Sheeran, ColdPlay, and Pearl Jam.
Sauti Sol Saturday morning took to their official Instagram page to inform their fans of their excitement ahead of the fete.
Sharing an image of the already prepared stage, they wrote: “True story! History being made today by #TeamKenya #TeamAfrica. Welcome to the global stage where Africa will be represented!”
The Global Citizen Festival will follow the notable signing of the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development by 193 world leaders on Friday at the United Nations in New York.
Information obtained from Sauti Sol’s website indicate the performance will be filmed live and broadcast on YouTube and American TV channel, NBC.
This won’t be the first ceremony the Nishike hitmakers are rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of the society.
In July, 2015 during Barack Obama’s Kenyan tour, the band of four was invited to the State House by President Uhuru Kenyatta for dinner party where they entertained the heads of states.
Sauti Sol prompted Obama to get on his feet, and dance to Sura Yako.
The US President later through the official White House Facebook page shared the group dance photo on the platform.
He later processed the image into hardcopy format, framed it and hung it in the White House.
Sauti Sol is currently riding high on their new jam, Isabella, which is receiving massive airplay on radio and TV stations across the country.
