The 24-year-old Kisii University student, who committed suicide on Monday, September 10, had differed with his parents over a woman he was in love with, a local administrator has revealed.
Chief Robert Osiemo says Ronald Misiani Oira, a Fourth Year Bachelor of Information Technology student, decided to end his life after his parents opposed a relationship he was involved in with a woman from Ichuni Sub-Location, where they were staying.
Oira committed suicide by hanging a few meters from Keroka Technical Training Institute , where he was attached.
His body was found dangling from a rope tied to a tree located near the technical college.
Oira left a suicide note, which was taken by police. Details of the suicide note have not yet been shared by the law enforcers.
Keroka Technical Training Institute principal, Joseph Kawala, said the student had completed his industrial attachment last semester.
Kawala eulogised Oira as a calm learner, who took his work seriously.
The student’s body was moved to Gucha District Hospital.
