Veteran Tanzanian musician Ray C has urged her compatriot, Lady Jaydee, to refrain from entertaining suicidal ideation, saying Jaydee has an undoubted potential of overcoming issues that are troubling her.
Jaydee, whose real name is Judith Wambura Mbibo, took to Twitter on September 26 to reveal that she had contemplated suicide, though she did not disclose what led to her suicidal thoughts.
“Yesterday [September 25], I contemplated taking poison, but before I could do that, I reminded myself of the far I have come from; and realised how stupid I would be if I would take my life. I pitied myself and trashed the thought. Today, I am still here; fighting strongly,” tweeted Jaydee last Wednesday.
And musician Ray C, whose real name is Rehema Chalamila, took to Instagram to urge the “Yahaya” hit-maker to rebuff suicide temptation.
Uploading a screenshot of Jaydee’s message to her Instagram timeline, Ray C said: “If there was someone who should have done this [committed suicide], I think it would have been me. If these words were truly written by you, then I condemn the Satan [who pushed you into having suicidal thoughts]. I understand that you have gone through a lot in life – both at work and at family level.
“However, if there are fighters in this [music] industry whom I believe in and respect, you are one of them. Please, don’t utter those words again. Erase them from your thoughts. God does not approve of suicidal ideation. I love you,” said Ray C on the photo and video-sharing platform.
Lady Jaydee, who is known for leading a secretive life, has faced several challenges in the past, including the death of her mother, Martha Mbibo, who succumbed to bladder cancer on April 26 this year.
The musician also had a turbulent marriage, which ended in divorce in February, 2016. The two were married in 2005 and split in 2014.
The artiste’s ex-husband, Gardner G. Habash, a Tanzanian national, would, after the finalization of their divorce case, accuse Jaydee of splitting from him over the phone.
In a February, 2016 interview with Tanzania’s Risasi, Mr Habash said Jaydee asked to walke out on him when she was on a United States tour.
“I remember it was in July, 2014 when I had booked Jaydee for a show in the United States. Her trip was to end after seven days. However, I advised her to stay for another three weeks – at least to extend her vacation. When it got to the third week of her holiday, she called me on phone and asked to separate with me once she jets back,” said Gardner.
-GENESIS OF BREAK UP-
Mr Habash, a celebrated radio presenter in Tanzania, said he did not know what prompted the divorce.
“Jaydee is in a better position to reveal why she decided to call off the marriage. Besides the normal hitches in marriage, I was in good terms with her. Even now, I still wonder what major turnoff provoked her decision.”
Mr Habash albeit says he sensed their marriage was headed for the rocks after he urged Jaydee to withdraw her statement – that the pair had already split way before Jaydee filed for divorce in a court in Manzese, Sinza in Dar es Salaam.
“I sensed bitterness in her when I urged her to withdraw her statement claiming that we had already split – even before she had filed for divorce in court. People could ask why we were no longer seen in each other’s company. Jaydee told me to deny that we had separated whenever the question was thrown at me.”
While he refuted rumours about their separation, Mr Habash says Jaydee was telling the media that they had indeed split up.
“It only dawned on me that she had moved on one day when I checked her social media accounts in my position as her then manager and realized fans questioned what caused our break up. Apparently, she was interviewed at a local radio station the previous day and she said we had separated. It made me look like a fool since on the other end I denied news about our break up.”
Despite all that, Gardner said he had no hard feelings toward his ex.
“I harbour no bitterness toward her and neither am I her enemy. I am now grateful the divorce has been finalized, and I know this won’t be my last time to find love,” said Gardner.
-JAYDEE AND SPICY-
The musician is currently dating a Nigerian artiste known as Spicy.
Spicy in December, 2016 debunked rumours that he had tied the knot with the Tanzanian songstress after photos showing the pair on alleged honeymoon surfaced online.
Sections questioned why either Spicy or Jaydee had not worn their wedding ring in the pictures.
Spicy in a past interview with Tanzania’s East Africa Radio revealed why he was yet to put a ring on Lady Jaydee’s finger.
“The ring is coming after the engagement and the wedding; we don’t start with the ring….,” he said on East Africa Radio’s Planet Bongo Show.
In a December, 2016 interview with Bongo5.com, Spicy revealed that he met Lady Jaydee in mid 2016 and fell in love with her.
The two met at a music concert, which they were slated to perform as acts.
