Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga has taken his county by storm by printing his photo on primary school examination papers.
Siaya County Executive Committee member of Education Pamela Akelo has, however, defended the move, hinting that the move will be repeated yearly.
Ms Akelo also refuted claims that the move is being used as a campaign re-election strategy for the governor after sections criticised the move on social media.
Ms Akelo said the move is aimed at ensuring the Standard Eight pupils “know their governor and have a closer relation with him.”
Governor Rasanga allegedly spent millions on the exercise despite residents showing their discontentment with the move.
The national government, through ministry of education, has on Wednesday, October 12, taken stern action against Siaya County Education board.
Education Cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i cancelled Siaya County mock examinations Wednesday, dissolving Siaya County Education Board officials and interdicting officials over the mock examinations.
