The National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga has – via his Twitter handle – officially declared himself the ‘President of the Republic of Kenya’, following his controversial ‘swearing in.’
Mr. Odinga took the controversial oath at Uhuru Park Grounds in Nairobi on Tuesday at 2.45 pm in a ceremony skipped by his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.
Almost immediately after taking the oath that was administered by Ruaraka legislator T.J Kajwang and Miguna Miguna, Odinga officially updated his Twitter bio to read, “This is the official account of The Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, President of the Republic of Kenya.”
Odinga, who has about 1.66million followers on Twiter, took oath of office in front of thousands of his supporters at Uhuru Park saying, “I Raila Amolo Odinga in full realisation of the high calling [to] assume the office of the people’s president of the Republic of Kenya, do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the people and the Republic of Kenya; that I will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Kenya, as by law established, and all other laws of the Republic as adopted by the people of Kenya; that i will protect and uphold sovereignty, integrity and dignity of the people of Kenya. So help me God”.
Conspicuously absent from the ‘swearing in’, however, were Odinga’s co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, and Moses Wetangula.
