Deputy President William Ruto’s wife Rachel Ruto has advised women to respect their husbands for the sake of peace in marriages.
Speaking at a function attended by hundreds of women at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church in Sango, Kakamega County last weekend, Rachel Ruto observed many marriages go down the pan due to unrealistic expectations women have of their men.
Mrs Ruto says when a woman openly disrespects her man, it would affect how their children grow up.
“My fellow women love your husbands. Don’t disrespect them, don’t fight them. The world is already harsh to them; when they come home, you should give them a peace of mind. Start calling him appealing names like ‘sweetheart’, ‘honey’; even if he had made you angry,” said Rachel Ruto.
“I know sometimes they (men) can get on our nerves. Nonetheless, we should love them for peace to prevail. When you are living in harmony with your partner, your life will be less stressful. What is this model of family structure called ‘single mother’? To me, there is nothing like a single mother. Smile charmingly, and you will find your Mr Right,” added Mrs Ruto.
Rachel Ruto, in the same breathe, advised women to come up with group funding strategies which will ensure they achieve financial freedom.
“Women, let us love each other. We should not despise one another. We should not perceive other women as less helpful. Let us accommodate each other. We can make money if we are united. I urge women to form groups such as table-banking. It will go a long way in solving financial problems facing women,” said Rachel Ruto.
