Citizen Television news anchor Willis Raburu on Saturday, October 14 uploaded to his YouTube channel a documentary highlighting his weight loss journey.
Raburu, who, between June, 2017 and August, 2017, lost 12kgs, says he arrived at the decision to lose weight, when his doctor Theophillus Wang’ata warned him that his body weight was posing a danger to his life.
“He told me if I was not going to lose some kilograms of the body weight, sooner or later, it would be a recipe for my death,” Raburu exclusively told eDaily.
“Besides his advice, no one pressurized me into shedding off some body weight. I was not doing it because of critics’ constant taunting. I saw it wise to do it, and I felt it was the right time to do it. Though, at initial stages, my wife, Mary Raburu, was opposed to my weight loss because she preferred me plump,” said Raburu.
Raburu documents that he now weighs 132kgs, down from 144kgs in late June.
“My target body weight is 110kgs, though according to my body mass index I should weigh 90kgs,” said Raburu.
What is Raburu’s secret of losing 12kgs in just three-and-a-half months? “I have been hitting the gym with my trainer Evelyn Owalla of Eveal Health and Fitness. I have also partnered with Smart Gyms and USN Kenya to ensure that I frequently observe my work-out routine. I keenly watch what I eat. I quit sugar completely at the beginning of 2017.”
The lively TV host says that friends and relatives now commend him for the successful weight loss journey. “Guys tell me that I look leaner. My wife, on the other hand, is my biggest supporter,” he said.
Raburu’s 8-minute documentary will be available on his YouTube channel every week beginning October 14.
