President Uhuru Kenyatta has eulogised the late Dr. Bethuel Mareka Gecaga as a true patriot who was one of the architects of building Kenya’s economy after independence.

“Dr Gecaga was right there among the iconic figures who worked to develop our country, and grow our economy. His death is a big blow to his family and those who knew him,” President Kenyatta said in a message of condolence to the Gecaga family.

Dr Gecaga passed on Thursday morning (December 15) at a Nairobi hospital after a long battle with undisclosed illness.

President Kenyatta recalled Dr Gecaga’s exemplary service to the nation, including as a long-time Chairman of British America Tobacco Kenya Ltd, Nation Newspapers, and national Carrier, Kenya Airways.
