Tanzanian singer Snura Mushi of Chura fame has had her engagement to fiancé, only identified as Ally, broken off.
It is Ally who broke the engagement after Snura refused to leave behind her two children.
Ally had vowed not to take care of the singer’s children from previous relationships, saying they are not his biological offspring; hence he doesn’t owe them duty of care.
Ally had engaged Snura – and was waiting for the singer’s parents to okay the union.
“Ally had expressed interest in marrying Snura, and he had visited the singer’s parents at Mwananyamala in Dar es Salaam for dowry negotiations. He was waiting for Snura’s parents to okay the union.”
“However, after engaging Snura, Ally informed her that he does not intend to take care of her children. Snura was shocked, but chose to stand by her children. The two thus broke off the engagement,” a source told Tanzania’s weekly Risasi.
Ally and Snura’s manager HK are cronies. HK had accompanied Ally to Snura’s parents for dowry negotiations.
When Risasi reached HK for comment, he confirmed that Snura and Ally are no longer an item.
“The guy (Ally) wanted to be with Snura only – and not her children. Snura could not live without her children and so she opted to grant Ally his wish of walking out on her. Snura says she will solely bring up her kids,” said HK.
Snura says she respects Ally’s decision – but she admits being shocked by the man’s resolve.
“Marriage accords one respect, but kids too are a blessing. If a man doesn’t want your kids, what will become of you as a couple? I wasn’t ready to abandon my kids. So I was left with no choice but to forego the marriage,” said Snura.
Snura had two children from previous two relationships.
