A supporter of a Member of County Assembly (MCA) candidate on Friday, June 23 attacked and cut off an arm of a 60-year-old man supporting rival politician in Ikolomani, Kakamega County.
The victim of attack, Cedric Vihembo, was rushed to Mukumu Mission Hospital in critical condition.
It is alleged that one of the supporters of Idakho East MCA candidate, Silas Muyeya, attacked Vihembo and his son at their home at Lirembe Village after he (suspect) had earlier bumped into Vihembo, a supporter of Muyeya’s rival, Edwin Palapala, removing Muyeya’s posters from walls in public places.
The suspect brandished a panga and cut off Vihembo’s arm before attempting to cut the body parts of Vihembo’s son, leaving him seriously injured.
In a retaliatory attack, Palapala’s supporters attacked the suspect, only identified as Chris, inflicting bodily harm on him, which saw him being hospitalised at the Mukumu Mission Hospital.
Attempts to reach either of the political seat candidates on phone bore no fruits.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
