Parents of a 12-year-old boy from Karouku Primary School in Embu County are aggrieved after the school head teacher allegedly broke their son’s leg after he administered punishment on the minor.
The class five pupil claimed the head teacher caned him five times on the foot causing fracture that rendered him immobile and unable to attend school since January.
According to the boy’s mother, Edith Chepkorir, her son left for school only to come back in the evening limping.
“We visited doctors at Kijabe for an x-ray. They told us that our son did not have any fractures but the nerves on his foot were numb,” Chepkorir said.
The 12-year-old’s father, Vincent Kinuthia, says they have taken their son to Karatina Health Center for plaster three times but the foot has shown no improvement.
“We now give him only painkillers. There is no other medication we can use.”
The head teacher, however, claims the parents are being used by politicians to bring him down.
“These parents are being used by politicians to malign my name and bring down the standards of this school.”
Kinuthia claims it is not the first case that has been reported of the school head breaking pupils’ legs in the school.
