The country broke into dance when the Kenya 7’s team slammed Fiji 30-7 in the Singapore Sevens circuit, and now President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined the celebrations in style.
Hosting the triumphant team at Statehouse Nairobi, Uhuru Kenyatta removed his swanky coat jacket and donned the Kenya colours.
That was, however, just the half of it.
The Head of State was soon carried shoulder high, and managed to catch the rugby ball to the amazement of the 7’s team.
Posting the pictures on Facebook later in the evening, Uhuru expressed that he was extremely proud of the team and what they achieved.
Greatly honored to fete our Shujaas the Kenya Sevens team at State House. The team has done Kenya proud and I’m happy to be able to congratulate them in person. Thank you for carrying the day and leading our country to Glory.
I thank Kenya Airways for sponsoring the team and the Company’s Management – Mbuvi Ngunze, Chris Diaz – for believing in their ability. God bless Kenya and may the Kenya Sevens team win many more titles for our Nation.
