‘Odi Dance’ goes international after US rapper uses it in new video

Morroccan-American hip hop artiste Karim Kharbouch, famously known as French Montana has released a new music video incorporating a version of the popular Kenyan Odi dance.

The video, titled Famous has Montana dancing to the Timeless Noel-invented style at various instances throughout the song.

The dance style first caught Montana’s attention in May 2017 when a video of Kenyan high school students doing the Odi to his Unforgettable track went viral, prompting him to post the video on his Instagram, to the amusement of Kenyans.

The video, which Montana captioned Working on this bop right now lol it’s dope to see these kids enjoying Unforgettable in places you might never make it 2” caught the attention of various international entertainment media outlets such as Worldstar HipHop.

A month after posting the video, Montana posted another video of himself dancing to the same style at a concert in Toronto, Canada and captioned it, “Finally got that Kenya #unforgettable bop together #livefromCanada”

Going by his decision to incorporate it into his latest music video, it would appear as if the now widely popular dance style has stuck close to Montana’s heart.
