A 23-year-old woman from Huruma Estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County has denied causing grievous bodily harm to her husband.

Erika Iminza Shihenda told an Eldoret court that she did not cut John Kisuvana’s manhood on May 23.

Ms Shihenda, who is facing an assault charge, is accused of using a kitchen knife to inflict harm on her husband, 41, while he was asleep.

The court heard that the suspect fled the scene after allegedly committing the crime. The matter was reported at Huruma Administration Police camp.

AP officers at the camp arrested the suspect the following day and handed her over to Eldoret Central Police post.

Appearing before Eldoret chief magistrate Charles Obulutsa Thursday, Ms Shihenda pleaded not guilty, alleging her husband, who she claims suffers from mental health issues, cut himself.

The suspect was released on a KSh20, 000 cash bail.

The case will be heard on June 11.

Mr Kisuvana was rushed to an Eldoret hospital where he is recuperating.
