American rapper and singer Onika Tanya Maraj, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has reportedly come out to announce that she is finally officially, and legally, taken.
The rapstress, who recently announced her retirement from music, has stated that she got married to boyfriend Kenneth Petty whom she has dated for less than a year.
Taking to Instagram, Nicki Minaj posted a video of two caps inscribed with the words ‘Bride’ and ‘Groom’ respectively, as well as two mugs with the tags Mr and Mrs.
The ‘Anaconda’ rapper then captioned the video ‘Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty’, accompanied with bride and groom emojis as well as Monday’s date, 21/10/2019.
The pair, according to U.S entertainment outlets, first dated as teenagers before reconnecting during last year’s Grammy Awards.
Nicki Minaj made their relationship official on social media in December 2018.
She captioned a photo of herself and Petty; “Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happens?… its no secret… that the both of us… are running out of time,” which are Adele’s lyrics to the hit song ‘Hello’.
In March this year, Nicki Minaj sparked rumors that the two were married during an interview with Queen Radio where she said:”Every night when I get out of the shower, my husband takes this really good lotion that we just bought, and he massages my feet and rubs them, and he rubs each toe individually, and the heel and the ball of my foot, and he does it all.”
The two were however not married at the time.
Kenneth Petty however has a chequered past. In April 1995, he was convicted of first degree attempted rape, later registered as a sex offender after serving close to four years in prison.
Soon afterwards, he was behind bars again after – in 2002 – he pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. He was released in 2013.
