Tanzanian hit-maker Nay Wa Mtego may be getting less airplay following a clash with Tanzanian regulatory body, BASATA (Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa), over offensive lyrics.
Addressing the press, BASATA chairperson Godfrey Mngereza said Nay Wa Mtego owes the public an apology following the release of his latest track, Pale Kati.
“The board demands the rapper to pay TSH1million (Ksh46,696) after finding his lyrics on Pale Kati humiliating,” Mngereza said, adding: “He should therefore make a public apology to women in Tanzania for demeaning lyrics.”
The Shika Adabu Zako hit-maker, born Emanuel Elabariki, was charged with three offences:
- Making music without registering to BASATA
- Posting the Music video on social media before the board has approved it
- Dirty lyrics which are humiliating to women.
Nay, who on 27 June told Instagram fans that he would cancel some shows, has been bashed by online users for his alleged ‘dirty’ lyrics.
The video has since gone viral on social media pages since its release.
