NASA petition has not affected our opening date, varsity Vice Chancellor says

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fredrick Otieno, says the varsity’s opening date for new academic semester is still penciled in for August 28.

Reports from different quotas had claimed the National Super Alliance (NASA) petition filed at the Supreme Court challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election led to the postponement of the institution’s opening date.

Prof. Otieno dismissed those claims while addressing journalists in Kakamega town on Saturday, August 26.

Prof. Otieno urged parents to ensure students report to the university on August 28, saying learning will resume shortly thereafter.

The false reports announcing the postponement of semester opening date claimed that due to uncertainty of political temperature that might arise as a result of the court ruling, students were advised to stay at home till further notice.
