Of mystery woman
Jaguar in a past exclusive interview with eDaily, admitted to hitting and killing two people on Makutano-Sagana highway, but denied the accident was a consequence of reckless driving.
Witnesses who recorded statements at Sagana Police Station claimed that the car, a Range Rover Sport of registration number KCB 808J, was being driven by a woman.
Mwea West OCPD Samuel Seurey, said the two, who were killed, were brothers, with one aged 21.
Jaguar, who was released on a police bail of KSh20, 000, denied that his car was being driven by a woman at the time the accident occurred, instead saying he was the driver.
He, however, admitted that a woman, whom he says was a friend, was in the car at the time of the accident.
“The accident took place on a highway, which had no, if not few, pedestrians. I unfortunately knocked down two people, who were on a boda boda. It took me time to stop the vehicle. I drove nearly 100 metres from the accident scene before stopping. I came out of the car and rushed to the accident scene to evaluate the situation of the victims.
“I was shocked to find out they had died. People started crowding the area, with motorists hooting. I sent a female friend, whom I was with, to go lock the car and pick my phones. I knew if I went to pick the phones by myself, the crowd would probably lynch me. The confusion as to who the driver was, I think, arose from there,” said Jaguar.
“Police officers arrived at the scene and found me rooted there. The woman and I recorded statements at a Sagana police station,” added Jaguar.
