Embakasi West Member of Parliament George Theuri recently engaged a woman – presumably a constituent – in a bitter exchange of words after she pointed out on social media the “MP’s failure” on matters development.
“Our MP is incompetent. We have bad roads and he is doing boxing and eating competitions. Priorities zake ni wrong (His priorities are wrong). Does he even understand his duties ama ni swag tu (or he is just showy))? Hata Parliament hajawai ongea kitu (He has never even said a word in Parliament),” Monique Mwangi wrote on Facebook.
Flamboyant Theuri seemingly did not take Monique’s statement of dissatisfaction kindly.
He retaliated in a disparaging tone, saying: “Monique Mwangi I don’t want to engage you since you are suffering from verbal diarrhoea. Unafikiria bara bara nikama suruari yako ikipasuka unakimbiza kwa fundi kupigwa kiraka (Do you think the roads are like your knickers which can be stitched when torn)? Come slowly,” Mr Theuri wrote in response to Ms Mwangi’s post.
“For some things to happen there is a procedure… and if you think you are competent simama pia wewe (announce your candidature),” the MP added.
The first-time legislator has, in recent times, courted controversy that has often made him the subject of public scrutiny.
In November 2015, Mr George Theuri responded to public criticism for letting his under-age children handle firearms.
“Nobody has a right to teach me and my dear lovely wife Cynthia Gitonga on how we shall bring up our boys. Yes I may make some mistakes, but just as my dad raised me up in his own ways and how best he thought, then so do I want to raise my family,” Theuri wrote on his Facebook page.
