Mother receives distress call after daughter procures abortion

A medical doctor, who works at a private hospital in Bungoma County, has been arrested on suspicion of helping a 13-year-old girl procure an abortion.

It is alleged the girl’s aunt reached out to the doctor and organized the abortion, which took place on Thursday, May 31.

The girl’s mother received a phone call from the hospital administrators, when the minor’s abortion process went wrong.

The girl was transferred to Webuye County Hospital in critical condition.

The girl’s mother was shocked to learn that her daughter was 5-months pregnant at the time she was procuring the abortion.

She called the police, who arrested the rogue doctor.

The distressed woman said her daughter revealed that one of her (daughter’s) teachers was responsible for the pregnancy.

Police have launched a manhunt for the said teacher, even as investigations into the matter continue.
