Saumu Mbuvi, the first born daughter of Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, is two weeks away from welcoming her first child.
Expectedly, Saumu who was thrown a surprise baby shower by close friends and relatives on Saturday, February 18, sought parenting classes from her mother, Primrose Mbuvi, and father, Mike Sonko.
“My dad has been very supportive. After my surprise baby shower on Saturday, he sat me down and advised me on parenting. He told me it is not going to be easy, but I should give parenting my best. He also assured me of his support, saying he will always be there to give direction when needed,” Saumu Mbuvi told EDAILY.
“My mum too sat me down and took me through parenting lessons. She taught me how to handle a newborn – lessons that include how to bathe her, monitor her health etc.
“I am excited and anxious at the same time about the motherhood journey ahead; and I would be lying if I said I don’t have fears. I have fears of the unknown. This will be my first time to become a mother, remember. But I am ready for the exciting challenge,” added Saumu Mbuvi.
Saumu Mbuvi is dating a businessman namely Benson Gatu, with whom they are expecting their first child together in two weeks time – from February 19, Saumu told EDAILY.
Mr Gatu, a law graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), has expressed interest to run for Mathioya parliamentary seat in August 8 polls.
Mr Gatu and Ms Mbuvi met while both were studying at JKUAT, Karen campus, where Ms Mbuvi was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.
