Michelle Obama is undoubtedly one of the coolest First Ladies USA has ever had.
Mrs. Obama, 52, showed off her mastery of pop music when she joined James Corden and special guest Missy Elliott for some Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show on Wednesday, July 20.
The U.S First Lady joined Mr. Corden – the talk show host – for a drive around the White House grounds. She said it was only the second time in close to eight years that she’s “…been in the passenger seat, listening to music, rocking out like this.”
The previous occasion was a few months ago when her daughter, Malia, was learning to drive.
Mrs. Obama has in the past showed her prowess in dancing – but few, perhaps just her family members, knew that she is equally skilled in singing.
She started off with her favorite singer Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours before moving on to Beyonce’s Single Ladies.
“We were both fully in the Beyhive. We just dropped the mic into the hive,” said Corden. “We were making honey in the Beyhive. We were making honey to put in our Lemonade.”
After talking about the first couple’s Secret Service code names and the First Lady joining Snapchat to document a trip to Liberia, Morocco and Spain in support of her Let Girls Learn initiative, Miss Elliott suddenly appeared in the back seat.
The trio sang This Is for My Girls, which Elliott wrote for the education campaign, before launching into the singer’s 2001 hit Get Ur Freak On.
