Man killed for enquiring why daughter wasn’t at her matrimonial home

Three people from Metha in Ngobit constituency, Laikipia County have been arrested on suspicion of killing their 60-year-old father.

The three Charles Kahia Ndirangu, 32, Isaac Gichuki, 24, and Mary Muthoni Ndirangu, 28, allegedly killed John Ndirangu Wanjau on Saturday, April 28 after he enquired why Muthoni left her matrimonial home.

Wanjau was found buried in his compound Sunday. Details on how he was killed remain scanty.

Neighbours, however, recount hearing a commotion at Wanjau’s home Saturday night.

Central Laikipia police boss Ben Changulo said the neighbours filed a report with authorities early Sunday about the Saturday incident.

Police officers traced blood spots to the grave where Wanjau was buried. Wanjau’s wife had gone for her uncle’s burial when the incident happened.

Changulo says they have since obtained a court order to exhume Wanjau’s body for postmortem.

Investigations into Wanjau’s death continue.
