A 35-year-old man from Kiriari Village in Embu North Sub-County was on Wednesday, November 28 arraigned for threatening to physically assault his biological mother.
The court was told that on November 22, Curtis Njagi Muchira uprooted a wooden cross from his father’s grave and threatened to hit his mother with it.
Muchira warned his mother, Jessa Karambu Ndwiga, of dire consequences should she refuse to “kiss” the cross.
The incident happened after Muchira arrived at his mother’s house, where she asked him about her missing purse. Muchira immediately walked out of the house and uprooted a cross on his father’s grave.
He, thereafter, returned into the house and threatened to beat up his mother.
Karambu pleaded with her son not to inflict bodily harm on her.
The suspect, thereafter, ordered Karambu to walk out of her house.
After frog-marching her for a short distance, Karambu managed to flee and reported the matter at an Embu police post.
The law enforcement officers arrested the suspect, who had returned to his mother’s house.
Muchira pleaded not guilty to the charge before Resident Magistrate Jean Ndegeri.
He was released on Ksh20, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount, or a cash bail of Ksh10, 000.
The case will be heard on December 12, 2018.
