A 24-year-old man from Ajigo, Siaya County is being held at Bondo police station after he allegedly hacked his uncle to death on Wednesday over alleged insults.
The deceased, Fredrick Oluoch Ong’aro, is said to have had a quarrel with his nephew on Tuesday night before he was attacked.
Responding to the incident, Bondo Township Chief, Maurice Aringo, said the accused, identified as Stephen Otieno Oluoch, claimed that his 42-year-old uncle had insulted him prompting a dramatic argument at dusk.
Aringo said that Oluoch then stormed his uncle’s house at around 2:00am with a machete hacking him to death.
He added that the neighbors managed to arrest the suspect who was trying to escape.
“Neighbors heard call of distress from Ongaro’s house at 2:00am. When they rushed at the scene, they found him soaked in blood,” said Aringo.
Hitherto, the location administrator told the residents of Ajigo to find amicable solutions into their differences before taking law in their own hands.
The body was removed to Bondo Sub County hospital mortuary.
